I find this very hard to believe. I'm 5'8" 36D-28-37 and only weigh 132. I don't see how a woman could have a 24 inch waist, and 28 inch hips and reach 146 pounds. It's not possible to have those measurements and weigh 146, unless some other body parts are far out of proportion.

Hi , I am 5'3 and weigh 115 pounds with a 36 bust 26 waist and 36 hip and I am very small! I cannot believe people think it is okay for a woman whom is 5'8 to be 120 pounds that is severely underweight and unhealthy. My body is very curvy and fit , and I love it, because I know I am healthy and look good that way. I am naturally small and will not go on diets or starve myself on account to becoming a 24 inch waist because it's ridiculous. Woman need to have more confidence and forget about the "perfect" size that a woman is portrayed to be. As long as your healthy and feel that you look good, you shouldn't thrive on loosing 10 pounds to be considered the perfect size. look at Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez some of the most beautiful woman in the world and do not have what you all call the perfect body but still manage to be absolutely stunning. Please get a new perspective if you think being the ideal size is healthy.

Wow I feel even more depressed after reading half these comments!
I'm 19, nearly 20 and from the UK.
I feel very paranoid and self concious about my looks and body, always have and always will.
I'm obsessed with my weight and always worrying about looking fat.
I have a big bum (everyone calls me Kim kardashian :( ) and 32d breasts. I have an hourglass figure but I hate it! I'd do anything to be thin. My measurements are;

Thighs - 22 inches (grim)
Waist - 26 inches
Hips - 35 inches
Chest - 36 inches

:( :(

Quite a lot of interesting responses. Actually, I hate to see people looking so skinny and unhealthy. How could people actually promote that? It is all about business. Food, fitness, pharmaceutics, nutritionist, everyone is just about commercialism and scraping the pockets of the fools who become the mass.

what i find absurd is that 146 lbs is considered ideal. yes, for someone 5'8'' thats perfectly healthy, but for the "perfect woman" i would have expected a much lower number.

btw
height: 5'8"
weight: 117 lbs
bust: 34
waist: 27
hips: 34

i agree with the people who said that having a pretty face is more important. I mean, you see plenty of fat actors with decent looking faces.

It is no surprise to me to see how many people have strong objections to this post. Note to the author of this article: You fail math, genetics, and body mechanics forever!

Umm none of this matters because the only reason people care about what their measurements are is to attract the opposite sex (or same sex is you swing that way). But truth is even though men are seen to only like extremely thin women, that is not true. My mom is very big (I mean like approaching 300 pounds) and she never had trouble finding men. A lot of them successful, nice and attractive. And I am about 5"10 180 38 C, 34 waist 40 hip and I also never had trouble finding guys. And even really thin women like my friend who is 100 lbs always turned heads. So I say as long as your comfortable and have a pretty face guys will like you and you'll be just fine.
