Looking for a great way to change up your exercising while getting a better work out than doing almost anything else?  Give swimming a try to gain some serious health benefits. Swimming is absolutely one of the best physical workouts you can do because it works your entire body.  The motions involved in swimming force your whole body to work, from all your major muscle groups to your cadiovascular system, which leads to maximum calorie burning.

The major benefits of swimming include:
Weight Loss- Swimming can easily burn off more calories in an hour than running
Full Body Conditioning- Because swimming works all your major muscle groups your whole body can benefit
Fewer Injuries- Swimming doesn’t put any undue strain on your muscles and joints giving your body an easier time
Versatility- Due to the low impact and strain involved with swimming almost anyone can do it regardless of fitness level or prior injury
Reduced Blood Pressure- In studies swimming has been shown to reduct blood pressure
Stress Relief- Swimming forces you to control your breathing while increasing the flow of oxygen through your body causing your body to relax
Muscular Strength- Although swimming is a cardio work out it will also significantly help increase muscle strength

With all the benefits that can be achieved through swimming it’s amazing that there aren’t more people who participate in this form of exercise.  It is by far one of the greatest workouts you can do and get the most ‘bang for your buck’ so to speak for your time at the gym.

Be sure to work on squeezing at least one swim into your weekly routine of working out, you’ll be amazed how quickly you’ll notice and feel all these wonderful benefits.

Can not agree more with you. I personally love swimming – always have done.

Fantastic for cardio but also more muscle definition and build – be warned though – with alot of competitive swimming comes with it a big appetite.

Should you ever stop, make sure you adjust your body to taking in less calories over time – otherwise BEING LARGE awaits you…!

Swimming is a great workout, especially here in AZ!

I think access to a pool is a stumbling block for some of us, and being a bit shy about getting into a swimsuit at a public pool, especially when we’re just starting out!

Agree that swimming is the best cardio exercise there is. The fact that there is less stress on your joints than most other cardio is a major selling point. You just need to take a look at a swimmers physique to see how good it is for burning fat and staying lean and toned.
