Why Weight Loss Pills, Supplements and Diets Won’t Help You
I have touched on this subject before but I have seen it appear in recent times and I really want my readers to understand that products like weight loss pills won’t work for you and I will tell you why.
It makes me really upset when I see personal trainers, health experts and the like promoting some exercise machine or speciality diet to get people to lose weight. To me they are traitors to there profession and should have a good long look at themselves.
These products are not purely marketing hype and many of them will actually assist you to lose weight. But the issue remains that these products are targeted at the wrong people and appeal to the wrong wants of the consumer. I am sure you have seen those "quick weight loss diet without exercise" or "exercise machines that works so well you don’t need to diet".
This kind of marketing ensures that no real improvements will be kept long term. Many of these products will lead to positive short term results but all of them fail to address the underlying issue that caused the weight gain in the first place. It is similar to replacing the wood in a house but never exterminating the termites. Short term you have fixed the problem but unless the underlying issue is addressed you will be back at the beginning sooner rather than later.
So if you are looking at using one of these products to lose weight fast, be sure to compliment it with a long term plan that addresses the weight issue to begin with. So if you eat too much junk because of a busy lifestyle ensure that you have adequately planned to create healthy meals during and after the use of a weight loss product. If you do not get enough exercise make sure you join a sporting team or a gym before you begin your weight loss.
Really, here’s the only and best way to lose weight:
- Eat healthy, fresh and natural food at least 3 times a day.
- Exercise at least 3 times a week.
- Have enough sleep (minimum 7 or 8 hours)
If you make no fundamental changes to your lifestyle, after you lose the weight guess where you will be in the next 6 to 12 months? That’s right you will be back where you started or possibly even worse because your body may have adapted to your smaller calorie intake.

I’ve been studying Ayurveda for a while.
Dr. Deepak Chopra was here in Denver this past week. His colleague, Dr. Simon echoed exactly what you are saying during their conference… there are wonderful bits and pieces of nutrients available(supplements) but not the best or the latest or greatest is in and of itself a ‘cure’ to anything.
True natral health is a philosophy, it takes dedication and has to incorporate body, mind AND spirit.
Very good point. I believe it would be best to start adjusting and changing your lifestyle BEFORE undertaking any weight loss regimen.
Best way to reduce weight is to get an decent workout regime going and eat sensibly
personally i do not encourage taking any pills. i believe regular exercise and balance meals will help.
I usually don?t post in Blogs but your blog forced me to, amazing work.. beautiful ?
Agree with you about making a fundermental change in LIFESTYLE i.e eating habits and exercise. Does not have to be a big change, a little change that can be sustained in the long term can make a lot of difference
Thank you for you most helpful comments on losing weight, I have tryed many diffrent weight loss programes in the past, and your comment where very helpful.I have had a little success with keeping my weight to what I enjoy it to be. I was three stone more then what I should be, and got down to two stone less then my ideal weight. I am now back up to a stone higher then I should be. But I anm now working on getting back to my I deal weight.
Thank you once again.
I totally agree. I wonder what your definitive stance is on supplements? I’ve always felt like the best and only way to lose weight is to watch what you eat and exercise regularly. But I have had a lot of success with certain natural and conservative supplements that help the body stay in balance and also help to maximize those habits of working out and eating well. Thanks for the site!
I generally agree with this article. In my experience there is no substitute for eating well and exercise. I have heard that hormone supplements are effective though but I know they are controversial and I would not try them.
Totally agree. It’s never fun to hear because we all want the quick fix but it’s a life-long relationship with healthy eating and exercise that will keep us away from the pills.
