The "Eat Clean" Diet

The Eat Clean Diet There’s a "new" diet in town and it’s becoming a hype because people like Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry picked it up.  It’s called the eat-clean diet.  I apostrophized the word "new" in the first sentence because this diet is nothing new in my eyes, it’s just common sense and boils down to what most health practitioners have been advising the last couple of decades.

The Eat Clean diet was developed by Tosca Reno and is meant to give you more energy and a shiny appearance.

Here are some of the basic guidelines:

  • Eat 6 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and 3 in-betweens.  This helps to promote a higher metabolism.
  • Drink 2 to 3 liter of water a day.
  • Avoid processed food: sugar, white bread, potato chips, blue apples …
  • Eat whole grains.  Remember that most brown bread is not made of whole grains.
  • Eat lean proteins like fish or chicken.
  • Eats lots of fruit and vegetables
  • Once in a while you can eat something sweet, but choose dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate and don’t eat the whole thing, just a piece of it.
  • Choose biofood

So is the wheat bread preferable? I was a bit bothered about 6 meals haha! I mean, isn’t it a lot?

Wheat bread is preferable because it’s not stripped from its nutrients. White bread is not nutritious and doesn’t satisfy your hunger as well as wheat bread, it just contains empty calories (no minerals, vitamins, …).

What they mean is the 3 main meals + 2 healthy snacks in between. If you are hungry, you should eat, and most meals leave the stumach after 3 hours. So if you eat at noon, you’ll be a bit hungry again at about 3 or 4 ‘o clock. It’s important that you don’t stay hungry because it decreases your metabolism.

Whatever diet’s out there, the best diet is cooking for yourself.

When I am not being lazy and cook food for myself, I find I lose 2-3 lbs. a week easily, without having to go to the gym every day (I went for maybe 30 minutes once that week), and doing mostly yoga (also only for 30 minutes) every other day, and some weight lifting, mostly done at home in my convenient time.

The evil’s out there, with all fast food. I get lazy and I’ll go out to eat sometimes, but whenever I do that, I always end up feeling a lot more tired, and the feeling of “fullness” that comes with eating fast food isn’t the same feeling of “fullness” I get from eating my brown/black rice with fried eggs and variety of side dishes…

I just need to get off my lazy butt and cook for myself instead of spending money outside on junk.
